Find out Which Popular Eye Product I Found Formaldehyde In

If you've been paying attention to my posts, you've probably noticed my new obsession with false eyelashes. Because I like to find out about and share the best of the best in products, I've done quite a bit of research online to reveal the ultimate in lash adhesives. I found one product mentioned on multiple sites. It's been touted as the best "surgical grade" glue, and it has even been called "safe" on some big cosmetic industry websites. 

Well, I was so thrilled to pick up some of the stuff to try for you guys, but when I turned the package over my jaw nearly dropped to the floor when I saw the word "Formaldehyde" clearly printed in the ingredients. We already know the effects this toxic ingredient has. Really? Still? My first thought was hell no, I'm not putting that $#!* near my eyes! My second thought was how many people are like me and actually turn the product over to check the ingredient label? I assume not many.

Duo Eyelash Adhesive

I've seen this sold at mall beauty counters, discount beauty stores, and big name drug stores. The sad thing is a lot of these stores also carry other brands of eyelash adhesive for strips of lashes, and upon turning the packages of those products over, I've discovered it isn't just Duo who uses formaldehyde. Many other brands include it in their glue for strip lashes.

I've noticed that many of the same companies create glues without formaldehyde for their cluster lashes (those that aren't full pieces to put over the entire eye, but sets of 9 or 10 hairs combined at the same "root.") I find this oddly interesting, and I wonder why companies feel the need to use such harsh chemicals in their formulations when it obviously isn't necessary.

I just can't get over what we as consumers are willing to sacrifice in the name of looking good. Formaldehyde.
