Beauty Blunder 6: Lipstick Conundrum

Question:  I just bought a great shade of lipstick, but it doesn't look the same on my lips.  Is there anything I can do?

Answer:  Yes.  I used to think lipstick was designed to play tricks on me.  A color I loved in the store would look muted or less intense when I applied it & wanted my lips to really pop.  Now I know a little secret to keeping the color vibrant.  Before applying your lipstick...

add a dab of liquid foundation or concealer to your lips.  It should look something like the above photo of Keira Knightley.  The nude background will give the color a plain palate to pop on.  I use this trick all the time, and it works.  The same concept can be applied to nail polish, but instead, paint white on your nails first.  That will give the color a bold edge, rather than a translucent look.
